About Tomioka Silk Mill
Tomioka Silk Mill was established in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture, as Japan's first full-scale mechanized silk-reeling factory, and many cultural assets, including the original buildings, have been preserved.
Today, it is a representative tourist spot in Gunma Prefecture and is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracting approximately 300,000 visitors annually (number of visitors in fiscal year 2022).
