About Tomioka Silk Mill
Tomioka Silk Mill was established in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture as Japan's first full-scale machinery silk factory, and many other cultural assets, including buildings from that time, are preserved.
Currently, it is a leading tourist spot in Gunma Prefecture and is registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and attracts approximately 300,000 visitors a year. (Number of visitors in 2022)
