ARWorks has recently created a 3D Object AR of Asaya Department Store, which was demolished in 2011 (Heisei 23), for the Gunma Prefecture group "Association Aiming to Establish a Peace Museum in Maebashi."

Recreating the original Asaya Department Store in AR

Asaya Department Store is a famous building that once graced the streets of Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, and opened in 1934 (Showa 9). It was sadly demolished in 2011 (Heisei 23).
This project faithfully recreates the original exterior and color scheme in 3D based on blueprints from when the store was completed. Even
the bullet holes left on the exterior walls during the Maebashi air raids have been recreated.

When you hold your smartphone over Maebashi City Central Event Square, where a department store once stood, a life-size 3D model will appear. You
can freely zoom in and out and rotate the building, and take a good look at the intricate decorations on the back, rooftop, and exterior walls.

About Asaya Department Store

Asaya Department Store is a reinforced concrete building constructed by Kida Gumi, a company led by Kida Yasuzo, an architect active from the Meiji to early Showa periods.
It boasts three above-ground and one basement floor, a total floor space of approximately 1,324 square meters, and is characterized by its Art Deco terracotta decorations and tiled exterior walls.
was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2007 (Heisei 19), but was demolished in 2011 (Heisei 23), marking the end of its role.
